Glamour magazine’s September issue is one of the most anticipated of the year, but local subscribers have an added bonus to look forward to this season: The cover and main fashion spread, starring model Karlie Kloss, were shot on Shelter Island.

Glamour’s crew told us they shot both the cover and interior photograph series at a private residence on the secluded island, but kept mum on additional details.

“We found the perfect location that suited our concept,” a Glamour magazine rep said.

In the spread, Kloss runs and jumps on the property’s gigantic lawn, wearing a succesion of gorgeous designer wear. She even takes a dip in the pool — all in the name of fashion, of course.

When they weren’t working, the magazine crew stayed at Sunset Beach Hotel, located on Crescent Beach.

So, why did they choose to shoot on Shelter Island? When asked, a Glamour rep responded, “What’s not to like about Shelter Island? It’s gorgeous!”

The September issue of Glamour magazine is now on newsstands. For a behind-the-scenes look at their Shelter Island shoot, check out the video below.
