When do a bucketful of ducks get dumped into a creek without making so much as a quack?

When the duckies are bright yellow and made of rubber, of course.

The fourth annual Shelter Island Chamber of Commerce duck race floated down Chase Creek on Sunday. The proceeds of the fundraiser benefit the Island business community.

The winners were as follows: first place, Maggie Montell; second place, Bruce Greenwald; and third place, Joe Purcell.
