What’s for Lunch: Turkey and cranberry sauce at Eagle Deli

Eagle Deli Shelter Island

Few things say fall on the East End quite like apple picking.

And, of course, the turkey and cranberry sauce we all stuff our faces with on Thanksgiving are also an autumn staple.

So what more seasonal sandwich can you find on Shelter Island than the turkey and cranberry sauce special on a roll with apple slices and brie at Eagle Deli on Shelter Island?

This Shelter Islander favorite is served year-round at the West Neck Road deli, but it makes for a great Thanksgiving primer this time of year. It’s usually served on focaccia bread, but when we ordered it late in the day this week we had to settle for a kaiser roll.

The sandwich, like all the other varieties on the deli’s lunch menu, is $9 and comes with pickles and a small bag of potato chips.

Eagle Deli is located at 25 West Neck Road. Call 749-5363 from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily for more information.
