The holidays are fast approaching and so are the festivities. Here are five things to do on Shelter Island to help ring in some holiday cheer this weekend:

Shelter Island Library Craft Fair

On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friends of the Shelter Island Library will host their annual Holiday Craft Fair. Come support local crafters and artisans by shopping comfortably indoors for unique and one of a kind gift items. Products for sale will include handmade jewelry, quilted items, ceramics, plus food products like homegrown honey and olive oil. The Shelter Island Library is located at 37 North Ferry Road. For more information visit silibrary.org.

St. Nicholas Craft Fair

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. come to St. Mary’s Parish Hall for their annual Craft Fair. There will be a cookie walk, raffles, a silent auction and homemade lunch. Kids crafts will start at 11 a.m. and visits with Santa begin at noon. St. Mary’s Parish Hall is located at 26 St Mary’s Road. For more information call 631-749-0770.

Shelter Island Tree of Lights

Following the Library’s Craft Fair, East End Hospice will hold its third annual “Tree of Lights” ceremony at 2:30 p.m. in front of the library. A Christmas tree will be lit and decorated with ornaments bearing the names of loved ones who are gone, but not forgotten. The interfaith ceremony will also include a reading of names of those who have passed. Refreshments will be served inside the library, following the ceremony. The Shelter Island Library is located at 37 North Ferry Road.

Shelter Island Historical Society’s Holiday Open House

On Sunday Dec. 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. celebrate the holidays at the Havens House Museum and Barn. Enjoy cookies and holiday punch while shopping for gifts at the museum gift store. Then visit Santa’s Workshop in the Havens Barn where children will make crafts and get their picture taken with Santa. The Havens House Museum and Barn are located at 16 South Ferry Road.
