Enjoy two evenings of culture and classical music on Shelter Island this month with the Perlman Music Program.

Violinist Randall Goosby, alum of PMP’s Summer Music School, will perform a recital with pianist John Root at the Clark Arts Center on Saturday, January 23 at 5 p.m.

Originally from Memphis, Tenn., Goosby is a winner of the Sphinx Competition, an annual competition in Detroit, Mich. open to all black and Latino junior high, high school and college-aged string players.

He currently studies with Itzhak Perlman and Catherine Cho at The Juilliard School.

Tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased at perlmanmusicprogram.org. There is no charge for those 18 and under.

The following evening PMP’s exceptional students and alumni will host a free concert, also at the Clark Arts Center. That event will take place on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 2:30 p.m.

Seating is first-come, first-served and reservations are not required.

The Clark Arts Center is located at 73 Shore Road, Shelter Island. For more information, please call (212) 877-5045 or email specialevents@perlmanmusicprogram.org.
