JIM COLLIGAN PHOTOS | A Ruddy Turnstone basking in the sunshine.

Small, brightly patterned birds,  known as Ruddy Turnstones, showed up on our beaches recently and Jim Colligan was there to capture them.

These stout little shore birds are dressed in their winter’s finery this time  of year,  and can be found feeding around and under stones by flipping them — hence their name —  for hidden delicacies.

Thanks for the photos, Jim!
