It may be freezing cold outside and the ground is still covered with snow and ice, but British Vogue Magazine is already thinking summer — summer on Shelter Island specifically.

The Island and the Chequit Inn received a major shout out in the British fashion magazine’s February 2016 issue.

The magazine names Shelter Island as one of their spring/summer travel destinations, recommending the Chequit as “The Place” to stay on the island.

The historic hotel is described as anything but a stereotypical Hamptons hideaway.

“No stuffiness here, just simple understated quality,” the magazine writes.

We couldn’t agree more.

Located at 23 Grand Street on Shelter Island Heights, the Chequit Inn will kick off its summer season on the weekend of April 22. For more information call (631) 749-0018 or visit thechequit.com.
