FRIDAY, MARCH 11

Fundamentals of Wine

A wine tasting lecture will be held at the Shelter Island Library on Friday, March 11.

Lecturer Dorothy-Dean Thomas will explain what to see, smell and taste the next time you enjoy a glass of wine. The free event starts at 7 p.m., wine will not be served at the event.

Traditional Irish music

The music trio Méara Meara will perform at the Presbyterian Church on Friday, March 11.

Come see this rising young band on their way to the top of the traditional Irish music scene. The two hour concert starts at 7:30 p.m.

Free the Trees Cleanup

Help clean up brush and bramble in Mashomack Preserve on Saturday, March 12.

Winter is a great time to get out and eradicate invasive vines and other problematic plants. Bring work gloves and go make a difference from 10 a.m. to noon. There is no fee to attend and water and snacks will be provided.

SIFD Annual Steak Dinner

The Shelter Island Fire Department will hold its annual steak dinner on Saturday, March 12.

Enjoy a steak dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Heights firehouse located at 2 Prospect Ave. Tickets are $30 per person at the door.

Juniata College Concert Choir

The Juniata College Concert Choir will perform at the Shelter Island Presbyterian Church on Sunday, March 13.

This premier choir from Pennsylvania tours during the spring semester with a focus on historical sacred music spanning five centuries and several cultures. Their concert begins at 1:30 p.m. and is free.
