Friday, April 1 

Book in the Woods

Families can take a trail walk through Mashomack Preserve while enjoying story time.

Beginning on April 1 the pages of a book will be mounted along a 1/2 mile loop of the Red Trail for hikers to enjoy. They read a page, walk a short distance, then read the next page. This month’s book is called “Caroline moves to Meadowview Street” by Henry Cole.

Book in the Woods is free. For more information stop by the Visitor’s Center or call (631) 749-1001. The Mashomack Preserve is located at 47 South Ferry Road.

Saturday, April 2 

Replay Story-telling Project: The Many Faces of Shelter Island

Come see members of the In The Water Theater Company perform local folk history on Saturday, April 2 in the Havens Barn at 3 p.m.

The story-telling theatrical troupe will recreate and play some of the many characters known to Shelter Islanders.

The event is free. For more information call the Shelter Island Library (631) 749-0042 or visit inthewatertheatre.com. The Havens Barn is located at the Shelter Island Historical Society at 16 South Ferry Road.

Sunday, April 3

3rd Annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser

Buy a bowl of soup for a good cause at the annual empty bowls fundraiser on Sunday, April 3 at the Shelter Island school from noon to 3 p.m.

All proceeds will benefit the Edible School Gardens and the Shelter Island Community Food Pantry.

Tickets will be sold at the door and are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for kids, with a $30 maximum for families. Soup-to-go will also be available. For more information call (631) 749-0302. The Shelter Island School is located at 33 North Ferry Road.
