Sylvester Manor Farm Stand

Shop at the Sylvester Manor farm stand this Friday, May 27 and all weekend long.

The farm stand will extend its days open and hours this weekend. Friday’s hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, May 28, are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, May 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Sylvester Manor Farmstand is located at 21 Manwaring Road.

Friday Night Dialogues: Peconic Bay: Four centuries of history on Long Island’s North and South Forks

Learn about the history of Long Island’s Twin Forks at the Shelter Island Library on Friday, May 27 at 7 p.m.

Pace University Professor Marilyn Weigold will give an overview of the history of the Peconic Bay area, based on her new book.

Havens Farmer’s Market

The Havens Farmer’s Market opens for the season on Saturday, May 28 at 9 a.m. at the Havens barn.

The Havens Farmer’s Market will be open every Saturday from May 28 to Sept. 3. Hours are 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information call (631) 749-0025. The Havens Farmers Market is located on the Havens House Museum Grounds at 16 South Ferry Road.

Alumni music recital

Perlman Music Program alum violinist Miki-Sophia Cloud will perform Saturday, May 28 at the Clark Arts Center at 5 p.m.

Hauling a Seine

Help pull in a 300 foot haul seine from the waters of Mashomack Preserve on Saturday, May 28 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Get a close up look at the creatures and plants that live under the sea. This activity demonstrates a traditional East End fishing method.

May-Gration Bird Walk

Take an early morning bird walk in Mashomack Preserve on Sunday, May 29, from 7 to 9 a.m.

Every Sunday in May, Mashomack Preserve is leading early morning bird walks in search of migrating warblers in their breeding plumage. The event is free and all birding levels are welcome. Bring binoculars.

Membership Party at Mashomack Preserve

Come celebrate the start of another summer on Sunday, May 29 at Mashomack Preserve from 4 to 6 p.m.

Come learn about local wildlife, nature programs, guided hikes, research projects, and how to become a member. Donations are appreciated.

Memorial Day Parade

Shelter Island’s Memorial Day Parade kicks off on Monday, May 30 at 10 a.m. at the Center Firehouse.

A memorial service will follow at approximately 10:40 a.m. at the American Legion Mitchell Post 281. Following that there will be free hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks provided by the Lion’s Club on the Legion Hall grounds.

The Shelter Island Center Firehouse is located at 49 N. Ferry Road and the American Legion Mitchell Post 281 is located at 1 Bateman Road.
