Before bending over backwards to rush to every summer activity, morning yoga at the tranquil Manhanset Chapel might be the perfect way to start the day.
Led by yoga gurus Michelle Mankins and Joseph Alexander, the classes at 24 North Ferry Road promise to inspire peace and cultivate self-awareness. Michelle’s classes are a combination of slower-paced Vinyasa and alignment-based Hatha. In her words, “Yoga is our way back into connection — with ourselves, with each other and with our world.”
Michelle Mankins completed her 200-hour YTT (Yoga Teacher Training) at Virayoga and is just finishing a two-year anatomy study at the Breathing Project in New York City. Her goal is to ensure that all students feel “safe, welcomed, and inspired to connect deeply with their own practice.”
Joseph Alexander, a founding member of the Yoga Friends Network, has dedicated his life to yoga and sharing its many benefits with others. He studies and teaches under the Yoga Shanti umbrella of schools in Sag Harbor and Westhampton Beach.
The yoga classes start Tuesday, June 21 and run through Monday, September 5. A class costs $25 drop-in or $100 for a 5-class card, cash or check. Bring a mat if you have one.
