Though Jay Damuck of Shelter Island Kayak Tours may not be able to give you a tour across Long Island Sound, as a customer once requested, his 23 years of experience getting kayakers of all ages and abilities out onto the water promises an unforgettable adventure.

Jay started the business in 1993 and has provided countless customers the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of Shelter Island’s creeks, bays and harbors. Paddlers are able to quietly observe deer, native birds, fish and other animals in their natural habitats from the tranquility of their kayaks.

Make a reservation and take the opportunity to explore and rediscover Shelter Island for yourself. No experience is necessary and instruction and equipment is provided along with water. Jay’s guides know the waterways. All you have to bring is your sunglasses, a hat, a light shirt, sunscreen, water shoes or sneakers and your curiosity.

Guided tours with Shelter Island Kayak Tours run two hours and cost is $60 per person. Children 12 and under are half price. A self-guided single kayak rental costs $30 for two hours and $45 for four hours. A self-guided double kayak rental costs $50 for two hours and $70 for four hours. Paddleboards are also available for rent.
