Artists program

Take a five-week drawing class that begins Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Shelter Island Library.

Led by Shelter Island Reporter cartoonist Peter Waldner, the class meets Saturdays through Dec. 10. It will culminate with an art show and sale, with proceeds benefitting the food pantry.

This class is free and is for ages 12 and up. It will meet Nov. 12, 19, 26 and Dec. 3 and 10. All supplies will be provided free of charge.

Orienteering with compass and map

Learn how to read a compass at Mashomack Preserve on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Learn topographical map reading and compass skills, then head into the woods to test your ability. All equipment will be provided.

Alumni recital

See cellist Saeunn Thorsteinsdottir perform at the Clark Arts Center on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 5 p.m.

Ms. Thorsteinsdottir will perform with pianist Alexandra Joan. They’ll play works by Beethoven, Brahmns and Schumann. A reception will follow at 6:30 p.m. for free.

Family, music and fun

Enjoy a fun-filled musical event for the whole family on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 11:30 a.m.

Come to the Clark Arts Center for a taste of classical music, with snacks and activities. Ideally suited for children ages 4-10, but all ages are welcome.

Music concert

Enjoy a free chamber music concert on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 3 p.m.

The North Fork Chamber Music Ensemble will perform at the Shelter Island Presbyterian Church. The event is free but donations are appreciated.
