Art and travel lovers will have a unique opportunity to indulge their dual passions in 2017 thanks to the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, which is leading an art-themed trip to the Netherlands in March.

The museum’s director, Terrie Sultan, and curator of special projects, Corinne Erni, have organized the six-day excursion — an exceptional trip to visit The European Fine Arts Fair (TEFAF) in Maastricht along with art-centric sites in Amsterdam and the Hague as well.

During their two days in Maastricht, the group will attend a preview opening of TEFAF and enjoy subsequent visits to the art fair, which presents 275 leading galleries from 20 countries. In Maastricht, participants will also visit Castle Wijlre, owned by contemporary art collectors Jo and Marlies Eyck, touring its garden and art collection, including the Hedge Huis (Hedge House), a private exhibition space designed by Wiel Arets Architects.

Also on the itinerary, a day trip to the Hague and a visit to the newly opened Museum Voorlinden, which houses the private collection of Joop van Caldenborgh.

In Amsterdam, the group will stay in the newly remodeled Pulitzer Hotel. The hotel is set within 25 restored 17th and 18th century houses that once played a role in the prosperous business dealings between trade merchants and was home to flamboyant Dutch aristocrats.

In Amsterdam, the artistic exploration continues with an itinerary that includes a visit to the fabled Rijksmuseum, home to paintings from the Dutch Golden Age by masters like Rembrandt, Vermeer, Jan Steen and Frans Hals. The group will also visit the van Loon Museum, which is located in a canal house owned by the van Loon family, founders of the museum, who became involved in Amsterdam commerce and governance in the 17th century.

The Parrish Art Museum has partnered with Netherlands-based Protours to design this art-filled European excursion, which runs March 6 through March 11, 2017. All travel, lodging, and most meals are included in the itinerary. The price is €6,415.00 euros (roughly $6,682.51)  per person for double occupancy (with a single supplement of €1,153.00 euros per person).

So if you’ve ever wanted to see European art on a grand scale, here’s your opportunity! To learn more about the trip, contact, or call the Parrish Art Museum at (631) 283-2118.
