Long Island Restaurant Week runs through April 30, and one of the few South Fork restaurants taking part is Baron’s Cove in Sag Harbor. This is one of the village’s newest eateries and it offers fine water views as well as Chef Matty Boudreau’s creative Restaurant Week three-course prix fixe menu for $28.95.
Among the offerings are appetizers such as Buffalo shrimp or a butterhead salad with blue cheese crumbles and red onions, along with entrees such as rock shrimp torchio pasta dish or a grilled nine-ounce teres major steak (a tender shoulder cut of beef) served with a spicy horseradish sauce. For a dessert, choose from mango pudding or a brownie with ice cream … yum!
But time is running short — and even if you aren’t able to make it to Baron’s Cove before Restaurant Week ends on Sunday, there are still plenty of other pre-season happenings coming up in the weeks ahead.
On Saturday, May 6 from 4 to 7 p.m., it’s off to the races when Barons Cove hosts a Kentucky Derby party to celebrate the 143rd Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs. Count on race-day inspired Southern fare in the restaurant and classic cocktails in the bar, including frosty mint juleps. Don’t forget to wear your favorite derby hat.
Also in May, for the moms in your life, Baron’s Cove offers a Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, May 14 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Join with family and friends to honor and celebrate the special women you know. Treat them to something from the a la carte menu or Baron’s Cove traditional Sunday Roast menu ($28) featuring lamb or beef, served with smashed root vegetables, local asparagus, grilled spring onions, Yorkshire pudding and natural jus.
So show your mother you care and indulge her in a fine Sunday roast — just like the kind she used to make for you!
