Brad Kitkowski , owner of Isola, the new restaurant opening this season in the former Sweet Tomato’s space on Grand Avenue in Shelter Island Heights, has announced that Seth Nathan will be assuming the role of Executive Chef at the establishment, which will offer New Italian cuisine.

Chef Nathan brings 17 years of cooking experience to the position, having most recently held Executive Chef positions at Mad & Vin at The Landsby hotel, and the Santa Ynez Inn, both located in Santa Barbara Wine Country in California.

“We are very excited to have Seth carry out our culinary vision for Isola, sure to please year-round residents and Island visitors alike,” said Kitkowski. “We plan to offer seasonal dishes featuring the freshest ingredients the East End has to offer, giving guests a true taste of Shelter Island living.”

Chef Nathan holds a Culinary Arts Certificate from Escuela de Cocina Luis Irizar in San Sebastian, Spain, and he plans to bring nuances from his experiences in Spain and California’s Wine Country to Isola’s menus.

The Huffington Post described the menu from his most recent position at Mad & Vin at The Landsby as “a sensational array of gastronomic gems that tempt palates and infuses tastes.”

Plans for Isola call for serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and the restaurant will also feature “curated wine” and a specialty cocktail menu.

“I’m looking forward to the new experience of working with the local fare of the North Fork and Shelter Island, and anticipate a very exciting summer at Isola,” notes Chef Nathan.

The restaurant is expected to open its doors sometime in late June.
