Venture Out Paddleboard ready for 2017 summer season

Venture Out Paddleboard on Crescent Beach offers Shelter Island visitors looking for a little excitement and exercise something to consider.

This Island amenity, which opened in 2011, is now open for the summer seven days a week. The Crescent Beach hours are Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. These times are subject to change due to weather conditions.

The service operates out of a white tent on the shore and no scheduling is necessary to get out on the water. The staff includes Island natives, a Shelter Island Buck summer league collegiate baseball player, a Marine and a surfer, all of whom are passionate about the sport of paddle boarding and can give you tips about what else to do on Island.

Or with a reservation, Venture Out will drop off and pick up a rented paddle board for free at any beach, house or location of your choice anywhere on Shelter Island between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Rent boards by the hour, half-day, full-day, weekend, or long term.

Other options include guided tours and lessons around the Island as well as Paddle Board Yoga classes. These two options require 48 hours advance notice to schedule. Rates vary depending on number of hours and number of boards rented. Visit for more details.
