Louise O’Regan Clark makes light of her winning ways, but she has walked the Shelter Island 5K Run/Walk course for a decade now and has placed first among the walkers each year since 2007.

She’ll be back on the course at the 17th annual 5K Run/Walk Saturday and it will surprise no one if she earns another win. (more…)

Maybe you sat in your car for way longer than you should have trying to leave the Tanger parking lot on Black Friday, or perhaps you maxed out your credit card with Amazon purchases on Cyber Monday.

Now that that nonsense is over, it is time to give back for Giving Tuesday, which is today, Dec. 1.

Founded in 2011, Giving Tuesday is a day when people are encouraged to give to causes they care about. Here is a list of North Fork charities that can use your assistance this holiday season and throughout the year.

Celebrate the season of generosity by making a donation to the Giving Tree.

Located inside the Havens Barn at the Shelter Island Historical Society, the Giving Tree presents an opportunity to donate to those in need. For the third year in a row, the historical society is teaming up with The Retreat, an East Hampton organization that provides domestic violence services and education on the East End of Long Island. The Giving Tree is an opportunity for people to donate items in need to the agency.
