Tickets are now available for the Shelter Island Historical Society’s annual “Black & White” party.
This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, July 22 from 6 to 10 p.m. in Havens Barn.
The Historical Society’s signature fundraising summer event is an opportunity to support the organization while dancing to great music, enjoying a raw bar, dinner by Marie Eiffel Market, complimentary photo of each guest by Island photographer Eleanor Labrozzi and a silent auction.
While Shelter Island sits near the end of the North Fork, don’t ever lump them together.
The displays here on the ‘Rock’ are as unique as its residents. While much of the North Fork is decorated with bright lights and color, Shelter Island décor is more natural, rustic and individualistic.

We hate to be alarmists, but do you realize that Christmas is only seven weeks away? Yes, it’s true — and even though the jack-o-lanterns haven’t yet collapsed, the leaves are still on the trees and we haven’t even thought about the Thanksgiving menu yet, it’s time to start seriously tuning into the gift giving season.
Fortunately, the Shelter Island Historical Society is making it easy for the early birds among us. This Saturday, November 5, they kick off the season with a “Holiday Store Shopping Day in Havens Barn” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (more…)
In 2013, the “Mitten Tree” located in the Havens Barn collected nearly 100 pairs of mittens for families serviced by The Retreat (Credit: The Shelter Island Historical Society).
Celebrate the season of generosity by making a donation to the Giving Tree.
Located inside the Havens Barn at the Shelter Island Historical Society, the Giving Tree presents an opportunity to donate to those in need. For the third year in a row, the historical society is teaming up with The Retreat, an East Hampton organization that provides domestic violence services and education on the East End of Long Island. The Giving Tree is an opportunity for people to donate items in need to the agency.
