An upcoming exhibition at the Parrish Art Museum — “John Graham: Maverick Modernist” — will be the first comprehensive retrospective in 30 years of the provocative artist’s work. Art and travel lovers will have a unique opportunity to indulge their dual passions in 2017 thanks to the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, which is leading an art-themed trip to the Netherlands in March.
The museum’s director, Terrie Sultan, and curator of special projects, Corinne Erni, have organized the six-day excursion — an exceptional trip to visit The European Fine Arts Fair (TEFAF) in Maastricht along with art-centric sites in Amsterdam and the Hague as well. (more…)

In preparation for writing his book “Inside the Artist’s Studio,” author Joe Fig spent time with two dozen painters, sculptors, photographers and mixed-media artists to learn more about how — and where — they make their art. From insight into the artists’ working hours and their favorite music to playing while in the studio, to their relationships with friends, family, gallery owners and other artists, the book offers an inside look at the creative process.
On Friday, September 23 at 6 p.m., Mr. Fig will be at the Parrish Museum in Water Mill to talk about and sign copies of “Inside the Artist’s Studio” (Princeton Architectural Press, 2015). (more…)
