Musically speaking, this will be an active weekend on Shelter Island with the Presbyterian Church slated to host not one, not two, but three very different concerts in the days ahead.
First up on Friday, March 17 is a good dose of folk music with fiddler Katie McNally and pianist Neil Pearlman who play traditional tunes from Scotland and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church and is presented by Sylvester Manor Educational Farm. (more…)

Hallelujah! It’s Handel!
That’s right all you classical music lovers, the second annual Handel’s Messiah Sing-in will be held on Sunday, January 8 at the Shelter Island Presbyterian Church. This is the first Sunday after the feast of the Epiphany (Twelfth Night) and all are invited to join in singing the Choruses in the Christmas section (Part I) of the Messiah, ending with the Hallelujah Chorus. At the next Celebrity Chef dinner, Chef Maria Schultheis, from Maria’s Kitchen will cook a multi-course menu featuring: guacamole with chips and pico de gallo, pollo a la plancha with sauteed peppers and onions, rice, beans and salad, tres leches cake and Churros. (more…)
