Looking for something to do on Shelter Island this Saturday and Sunday? SI northforker has you covered.  Here are five activities to check out this weekend:

1. 16th Annual Shelter Island 5K for local breast cancer charities

Run or walk at the 16th annual Shelter Island 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, October 17 at 11 a.m. at Crescent Beach. Proceeds benefit the North Fork Breast Health Coalition and Coalition for Women’s Cancers at Southampton Hospital. Registration on the day of the race is $40 for adults; children 14 and under are $10. Register at the Sunset Beach Hotel parking lot located at 35 Shore Road, Shelter Island Heights.  Call 631-774-9499 for information.

2. Oktoberfest at The Ram’s Head Inn

The Ram’s Head Inn will host its first Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday October 17, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The celebration will feature a pig roast along with live music, as well as East End wines and local brewery tastings. Admission is $35 per person and will include two drink tickets along with the food and music. The Ram’s Head Inn is located at 108 Ram Island Drive on Shelter Island Heights. 3. The Shelter Island Historical Society’s 2nd Annual Oyster Festival

The Shelter Island Historical Society hosts its second annual Oyster Festival on Saturday, October 17 in the Havens Barn. Part festival, part educational exhibit, the event will include displays about oysters and oyster farming, as well as plenty of oysters for eating.  Other foods will also be served, plus beer and wines. There will be live music, a silent auction, raffle and photo booth. All proceeds benefit the Historical Society. The festival runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and tickets are $40 per person. The Shelter Island Historical Society is located at 16 S. 4. Owl Prowl Nighttime Hike

Go on an Owl Prowl with bird expert Tom Damiani at Mashomack Preserve Saturday October 17 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Come learn about these birds and have a chance to hear and possibly see screech owls. Bring binoculars and a flashlight. Free, donations requested. Mashomack Preserve is located at 47 South Ferry Road. Call 749-1001 to save a spot and for more information.

5. Commander Cody’s 25 year anniversary celebration 

On Sunday October 18 the popular seafood and barbeque spot is celebrating 25 years by thanking its customers with a party. Come enjoy seafood, barbequed ribs and more.
